In 2007, Stephanie Byrd attended a Habitat orientation because she wanted to build a better life for herself and her three daughters. As a single mom, she works hard to make ends meet. Stephanie came to Habitat and took the first step towards a brighter future.
I sat in that meeting with all those people and thought, what are the chances? There are so many needy people.
Still, she submitted her pre-screening application, determined to work through the rigorous selection process, and started on the road to home ownership. When she got the call from Habitat that she was accepted as a Partner Family, she said, “I felt like I won the lottery.”
